History

Madison Trust was not the first company founded by its partner team. Rather it grew organically from a previous collaboration – Broad Financial. Broad was created in 2009 by Daniel Gleich and Mervyn Klein, and served as an IRA LLC facilitation firm. The company then completed its management team with the hiring of Brian Finkelstein, a 25 year veteran of the global financial market. Broad’s main objective was to give investors the freedom to put retirement funds in the assets of their choice.

Broad initially used a third-party custodian to house clients’ self directed IRAs, but the situation quickly became untenable. Broad had built a reputation based on client support and their chosen custodian did not provide service on the requisite level. This led Broad Financial to create Madison Trust. The idea of Madison was to provide a continuum of service that encompassed the entire self directed IRA life cycle. The hallmark of this service would be live client support. Every caller to Madison would be able to speak to a live informed Specialist.

Madison Trust has steadily grown since its inception, and it would appear that its “client first” philosophy is working. The company consistently ranks as the industry leader in customer satisfaction.

Services

Madison Trust offers all the standard services that are offered by Self Directed IRA Custodians. These include:

  • Online account access
  • Existing IRA fund transfer
  • Investment processing
  • Account maintenance
  • Quarterly statements
  • IRS tax reporting

Unique Services

Comparison Calculator – Madison Trust offers a specialized Comparison Calculator that offers unbiased listings of the top eight Self Directed Custodians. The listings are based on an amalgamation of third party review websites including Google, BBB, Yelp, and Facebook. The Calculator also allows users to input the expected dollar value of the retirement account and then it will display fees for the listed Custodians.  You can access the Calculator here.

Fundraising Toolbox – This is a free resource formulated for Investment Sponsors. The toolbox gives Sponsors the tools needed to educate investors on the topic of Self Directed IRAs. The Self Directed platform allows Sponsors to access variant sources of capital, while giving investors greater flexibility and diversification.
Elements of the Fundraising Toolbox include:

  • Brochures
  • Webinars
  • Employee training
  • Digital collateral
  • Event participation

Live Call Support – Madison offers live support on every call. This is a departure from the standard industry practice. Most companies offer automated voice prompts, call queues, or outsourced call centers. In accordance with its “client first” philosophy, Madison has every call answered by a live CISP trained Specialist.
